Explore Scientific ED APO 127mm f/7.5 Carbon Fibre v2.0 Triplet Refractor OTA
Zoom  Zoom

The Explore Scientific ED APO 127mm f/7,5 Carbon fibre V2 builds on the success of the original Explore Scientific 127mm f/7.5 ED APO Carbon fibre. This excellent optical and astrophotographic performer - a true Apochromatic triplet - offers razor-sharp, contrast-heavy images and superb colour correction - outperforming traditional mass-produced ED doublet designs. Adding newly-designed latched tube rings for easy balance adjustment and quick disassembly, the Explore Scientific ED APO 127mm f/7,5 Carbon fibre V2 is a significant 3kg lighter than a conventional aluminium-tubed ES 127 triplet. Comes complete with an Explore Scientific 8x50 finderscope, 2" 10:1 reduction, rotatable Crayford focuser (including two additional extention tubes), heavy duty flightcase, ES 2" star diagonal and 30mm Widefield 2" eyepiece.

Also available is a Standard optional field flattener and the option to fit the new 3" Explore Scientific Field Flattener and Focal Reducer.

This system is built around a superb air-spaced Triplet lens, utilising Hoya Japanese FCD001 ED glass. All Explore Scientific instruments are rated at .25PV as a minimum standard - the optical performance of this system is consistently much higher. Enhanced Multi-Layer Coatings (EMD) are present throughout the elements, helping to minimise internal reflections and light scatter - blackened knife-edge baffles are also present throughout the OTA to assist this. Whilst extremely well-collimated to exacting standards - going through a rigourous round of QA before shipping - the ES 127mm lens cell is fully collimatable, should the need arise.

We have been consistently impressed by the output of Explore Scientific and consider this instrument to be, whilst not inexpensive, extremely good value for money. The practical nature of its lightweight construction means that this telescope can be mounted on mounts of the class of the Skywatcher HEQ5 Pro and still be used for astrophotography, (whereas we would recommend the NEQ6 Pro for the heavier conventionally tubed version). If you are considering moving up to a true 5-inch class Apochromat, but don't neccessarily want to upgrade your mount at the same time, we would heartily recommend the Explore Scientific ED APO 127mm f/7,5 Carbon fibre V2.
