Highly recommended as the ideal instrument to encourage those first steps into microscopy, the Bresser Junior Stereo Microscope is designed to be easy for a child to use. No need to worry about slide preparation, just place the specimen into the pool of light and focus.
Children today are used to instant results and any effort to introduce the wonders of scientific exploration has to compete with computer games, television, mobile phones and in some circumstances social media. High power microscopes require patience and discipline to use. They are as much about the time taken to prepare slides, as actually looking through the eyepiece at the specimen. With 20x magnification, this stereo microscope is designed to examine larger subjects like insects, coins, minerals, stamps in rich detail and many of the items will require little or no preparation. The feedback gained is almost instant.
Mother Nature has voted over millions of years that two eyes are better than one and young children instinctively find looking through two eyepieces much easier than one. Whilst very small children may not yet have the inter-pupillary gap (distance between both eyes) to allow effective use of both eyepieces they can quite happily use one ocular until they get big enough to use both.
The Bresser Junior Stereo Microscope just needs two AA batteries to get the budding scientist up and going. The adult assistant will need a cross shaped screw driver to remove 6 small screws on the base of the microscope to install the batteries. This allows the microscope LED illumination to light up the specimen to a sufficient degree to observe details.
The microscope is constructed from high density plastic for a durable and lightweight instrument. Tough enough for everyday use and able to withstand all but the most dedicated destruction efforts. The observing stage or platform is reversible to improve contrast when observing materials with different luminosity and can be removed to reveal a small storage compartment for frequently observed samples and specimens.
The package contains a small collection of rocks and minerals to get the scientific explorer started but with a household of possible specimens, the only limit is imagination.
Designed for children aged 6 and above but adult supervision is recommended for ages 8 and below.
Includes 12 mineral samples.
Includes 2x wide field 10x eyepieces
2x stereo objective lenses
Lamp illumination (requires 2x AA batteries - Not included)
