A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a proactive and charismatic sales assistant to join our team, at Rother Valley Optics, based in Kiveton Park, Rotherham.

Working within a small and friendly retail team, teamwork and the ability to build relationships are key to this sales assistant role. We are looking for a sales assistant who will proactively approach every customer and deliver a true retail customer experience. Excellent IT skills are essential as well as time management, punctuality and reliability. Excellent people skills are also required as the role will include face to face enquiries, phone advice and orders, email and website work, admin work, packing and dispatching orders and other computer based work. There will be stocking roles too which will include booking in deliveries, inputting the data and restocking.

A knowledge on optics, such as telescopes, binoculars, spotting scopes etc, is ideally required. We will be able to offer training on our line of products as well as our computer and EPOS systems.

The role will be Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm, with a day off during the week. Working on Saturdays is essential to the role as this is one of our busiest days during the week within the shop.

As Sales Assistant and your main responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure that customer service is not an afterthought but an intrinsic part of the sales process. This is a key quality that we push here at Rother Valley Optics as exceptional customer service is what we strive for and it's what we've built our reputation on over the last 20 years.

  • Support the Management team and the sales process ensuring effective responsibility and ownership of your tasks. Full training will of course be given, but we do require a good sales experience prior to the role.

  • Drive and deliver personal sales and KPI targets by cultivating customer relationships.

  • Take responsibility for visual presentation and cleanliness of the store. These are tasks that are done in-between day to day shop tasks. Making sure the desks areas are clean and the showroom itself for customers.

  • Ensure accurate and appropriate advice to ensure that our customers buy the best and most relevant products to meet their needs. At Rother Valley Optics, we have built the business to give good, honest advice, not just what we have in stock or the most expensive items, but what the customer needs. This is why they keep coming back to us and is a key part of the role.


 

In order to be considered for this exciting role, it is essential that you have the following:

  • Retail experience in a client-facing role, both face to face, on the phone and via email, ideally within the optics industry

  • Genuine desire to deliver first-class customer service and have a passion for our products and business sector

  • A dedicated and capable retail sales professional who is passionate about selling and has shown they can deliver high performing sales figures

  • Ability to work well under pressure whilst prioritising workloads and meeting deadlines. We are an incredibly busy retail shop with deadlines given daily. These must be met on a daily basis.

  • Self-motivated, shows initiative, confident and a strong team-player
