14 inch Flex Dobsonian Goto
Monday, 27 May 2019  |

I am still newish to this astronomy I have had a 40 years plus away from it all together. started of with I will say middle range 6 inch reflector the sky watcher 150i. this gave me a new and fresh look into the hobby again. just bare in mind this kind of scope is not one I would start with as some body new to astronomy. I soon reallised I needed more light gathering power and to keep the F stop at F4 as near as. I had the aim of getting into deep space objects such as galaxies and clusters lastly nebula the faint left over remains of the gases etc that normaley we cannot see with the human eye this is were the OIII filters come in. so looking around and gathering Information realised I needed a bigger mirror. so I was looking at the 10 inch flex for starters but soon jumped up to the 350p flex am glad I took the plunge every were I point the scope to a object sure enough its there in the view finder. and as a starter I use 38mm pan view lens 2 inch even this wide a field on the 350p flex it shows up the Hercules cluster M13 wow as for away as it is in the eye piece I can see the little individual pin prick stars, were as on my 150i tube it was a blur whitish cloud when I managed to use the most power I had using the 10mm and the barlows x2 and x3 gave me between x320 to x420 I was looking at the inner ring of the cluster it was sharp and spaces between all the stars in the inner cluster. so this just proves its all about gathering enough light and the 350p sure does that. I then change the eye pieces to 25mm then 10mm even using my x2 and x3 barlow lenses it was a unreal breath taking site. you see the images what folk do with astronomy cams and dslr well they tend to over expose the clusters of stars when you see the same through the eye piece its a different view is for the better to the naked eye. and onto the ring nebula m57 in Lyra just increased the lens power from 10mm to adding the x2 barlow and the ring is there in the eye piece it was half filling the eye piece. and so on if you thinking what to get yes its a big outlay but worth it the nights go to fast bad enough i have to wait until 2300 for it to be dark enough to get out in my back yard to star align the 350p up and thats it were of. the only issue I found was because I cannot leave my scope outside I have to strip it down and take it back in the house for storage, so you have the x2 sides and x1 panel that fits between the x2 sides.this is not as bad as you think the worst of stripping it down is the rotating base its very heavy and a little awkward even with the x2 side panels off and the x1 between the 2 side panels off it leaves the base to handle on my own but I manage just take your time. but after that hard work its all worth it when you look through the stock eye pieces that come with the scope you will be taken away with the breathtaking views that will not dissepoint you its got the big punch and it will make your fellow astro friends envy you.
